Unanswered Calls For Reform: The Demarginalization of Tunisian Youth

Presentation Video

Jay Wood researched efforts to sustainably invest in Tunisian youth, interviewing young Tunisians and social entrepreneurs addressing crises affecting the youth. Despite years of political marginalization and economic crises, young people in Tunisia have been engaging with social change in creative and unexpected ways. The country is experiencing a record number of migrants departing for Europe, an autocratic relapse, and dual economic and health crises. Wood is interested in the question of how people can invest in youth given a country’s economic and political backsliding, with the aim of dissecting narratives of a “failed” Arab Spring and advocating for sustainable youth de-marginalization policies.
