Artificial Intelligence as a Discrete Artistic Medium
Elliot Wright explores how creatives can meaningfully utilize and adjust to the introduction of accessible artificial intelligence applications. They claim that 1) the appropriative and synthesizing abilities of artificial intelligence are not inherent threats to artists and their craft and 2) that it is those very qualities that grant these applications huge creative potential. They advocate for a shift in mindset from AI as a substitutive tool to AI as a discrete medium—and that like any other medium, it should be utilized in accordance with its integral strengths, weaknesses, and semantics.
