Lauren Conroy (MA ’24) (she/her)
John Cage: An Exploration of Archives and Public Performance
Lauren’s project studies the composer John Cage, his music and philosophy, his deep connection to the revolution of experimental classical music from 1950-1990, and the relation of these interests to the archives at the John Cage Trust at Bard College. She traveled to the Trust to find valuable archival materials that could be used as visual emphasis of his life, work, and influence in a public performance setting. This collaboration between archives and musical performance is an experiment for connecting cultural archival history to a public forum.
