Learning from the ZAD: Anarchism in the Capitalocene

Amidst increasing global disaster, I analyze the anarchistic elements used at the ZAD, an autonomous zone in Western France, as a potential method for survival. By combining theories from environmental studies and political philosophy, specifically political ecology and anarchist theory, I demonstrate how the study of the anarchistic elements used at the ZAD can inform methods of survival in the Capitalocene that lead to interconnection between species, agency and self-actualization, and ultimately decisions that are made for the benefit of the community rather than for the individual.
