No to Newman 6: Geopolitics, Colonialism, and Identity via Environmental Justice on the West Texas Border

After immersing herself in a campaign against the construction of the Newman 6 gas plant in El Paso, Texas, Blandon produced a chronology of the controversy and an analysis of the campaign’s underlying rationale. Her thesis asserts that the border has always been at the frontlines of state violence, resource extraction, and environmental degradation. The most recent expression of resistance by boderlanders has culminated into a struggle against the Texan oil and gas industry. She is proud to present her work as a point of departure for further academic inquiry.
