Electroreduction of Carbon Dioxide With Copper Selenide Nanoparticles
I have been working on using copper selenide nanoparticles as electrocatalysts for the reduction of carbon dioxide to other more useful chemicals such as the alternative fuels ethanol and methanol. Using colloidal synthesis and cation exchange, thin films of nanoparticles were used on an electrode in an electrochemical fuel cell to run the reactions. The products and potentiostat numbers from runs with nanoparticles of various sizes and with various ligands were compared to optimize electrocatalytic activity.
