Welcome to the 2020 DASR Blog!

Welcome to the blog for the 2020 winners of the Dean’s Award for Summer Research (DASR)! This year we have invited the Africa House Bergman Summer Fellows to join the DASR awardees in sharing their research this summer. In total, 21 undergraduate and graduate Gallatin students will reflect on their experiences learning about engaged research. Each month the DASR and Bergman Summer fellows will share their research insights and other findings right here on the DASR blog.

In the past six years, students have embarked on original research projects that crossed disciplines, connected them with others, and allowed them to travel the globe. Now we are in uncertain times, where the COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically altered the world as we know it. Although travel plans have changed and in-person meetings may not be possible, scholarship continues to persevere. In the spirit of public-facing research, this blog showcases the highs and lows of the research journey in hopes of inspiring others to tackle issues that are important to them. Please join our students on their virtual journeys as they research together, apart.
